Polyrhachis furcata worker!

Hi guys! Welcome to another update! And one I am extremely happy to write!

On the 4th of March 2023, I uploaded this post about a new Polyrhachis species I caught in the South of Thailand, and if you haven’t read that one yet, please check it out first!

So starting with the updates, on the 20th April 2023, I got my first worker and today I got my second worker.

I am so happy to have been able to successfully bring her out of foundation into colony life!

There was a small set back though in this process. Before the first worker was born, she ate most of her larvae, probably due to some deficiency on my part to provide protein? or more regular feeding… not sure.

She has bounced back and lay more eggs meanwhile, so I hope they can hatch and develop fast, as temperatures are starting to rise.

I managed to take out one worker and photograph it.

Just notice her amazing spines, thorax texture and how silky/wooly she is! Stunning little ant!

I am so excited to see them grow even more!

I am now certain this species is Polyrhachis furcata, after finally being able to see these workers.

You can again double confirm by looking at this other website:

Well, this is it for today’s post! A short but good one :D

Hope you have enjoyed, thank you for the time to read the post.

And see on the next one!

Cheers!
